It's My Pleasure

by Bryan Owens

It's not often that I choose to eat lunch at a fast food restaurant, but yesterday I really wanted some fries and a chicken sandwich. (OK, so my doctor wouldn't approve, but it made me happy.)

I walked inside the restaurant, and to my surprise, I was greeted with a smiling, clean-cut employee who cheerfully took my order.

Wow! Am I really in a fast food restaurant?

When she handed me my order, I thanked her, and she replied:"It's my pleasure."

Wow, again!

Chick-fil-A has irresistible chicken sandwiches, but my visit reminded me how important great customer service should be. IT IS IMPORTANT! And, it's the little things that make a lasting impression.

When Truett Cathy opened his first restaurant in 1946, he had core values that haven't changed in more than 65 years. Now, that's a solid business plan worth emulating.

Little Things Make a Big Difference

When you're developing a business plan, don't forget the small things.

You should start with solid foundational elements and build upon those. Your marketing plans should include the culture of your business. Whether you're Tweeting, Facebooking, creating a website, or interacting with your customers in person, don't forget that all of these elements are an extension of who you are.

If you have happy customers, that's a great start. Use that indicator as you seek to continually improve your interactions with customers and clients.

It was "my pleasure" to dine at Chick-fil-A yesterday. That reminds me….. what's for lunch?
