I am a woman.
I am college-educated.
I am successful.
I am not married.
I do not have children.
I love shoes and reusable grocery bags.
I can fix a garbage disposal by myself.
And clearly, I took a few women’s lib classes at UNC. Ha!
For the record, a pink iPod does not appeal to me. I will probably never buy breast cancer pink tennis shoes (and not because I don't support breast cancer research). I am also not a "Mommy Blogger." Their negativity kind of turns me off.
I am an interested, single consumer who buys her own things with her own money.
CNN now claims that women audiences are the economic solution...so why aren't you targeting them in EVERY market? Women buy TVs, Wiis and cars. I couldn't care less about diapers, menstrual medication or birth control. I'm not ready for kids, and my doctor takes care of the rest.
Even with Super Bowl advertisements, marketers assume men are the only ones watching. What about Martha in the kitchen whipping up vittles for the game? More than 40% of women watched the Super Bowl this year, according to MarketingProfs, yet most ads were focused on men.
I know this isn't a new subject, but it doesn't seem to be going away either. Is there any other way to prove female buying power? I'd say our 85% spend over the measly 15% spend of men is pretty strong.
I don't want pink. I want thought. I want understanding and efficiency. Please.
