Sam’s Club PRODUCT & SALES TRAINING

CREATING BRAND CHAMPIONS VIA VIRTUAL TRAINING

Like most every organization in 2020, Sam’s Club was forced to halt in-person training due to Covid. Time to pivot! JACKSON quickly helped the client “ramp-up” virtual tire and sales training—hosted at our HQ in Greenville, South Carolina—with the technology, curriculums, training personnel and planning.

A FOCUS ON CONSTANT IMPROVEMENT

Lessons were learned, efficiencies were made and curriculums were rewritten to meet Sam’s Club new KPIs and best serve their virtual audience: tire installers, Tire & Battery Center managers and tire salespersons. One successful addition that’s helped with retention: training four days a week for four hours a day. And now post-Covid, virtual has become the prerequisite for in-person, three-day training.

Not only have JACKSON training associates led the training, JACKSON has also helped facilitate training for many of Sam’s Club major tire and operations vendors, including Michelin, Pirelli and Goodyear. We help pass control over to these vendors—while producing behind the scenes, a la The Truman Show—so their team can excel and truly connect with the audience.

What we’ve learned from 40+ years of training—and helping train 20,000+ tire experts in the last 10 years—is that the pendulum constantly swings between efficiency and effectiveness. Is it efficient to train 100 associates at once? Yes. Is it effective? No. Is it effective to create 1-on-1 driver training? Absolutely. Is it efficient? Not in the slightest. To be successful in training, the information has to be transferrable, you must implement practice and  you must adhere to the four stages of student learning:

  • Stage 1: Understanding
  • Stage 2: Application – The Ability to Take Action
  • Stage 3: Proficiency Through Repetition
  • Stage 4: “Mastering It” – The Ability to Teach It
