GREENVILLE, S.C. – When Michelin solicited Jackson Marketing Group (JMG) to produce a television-quality fundraiser to raise money for local public schools called, Are You Smarter Than a Greenville County Schools 5th Grader?, JMG accepted the three-month logistical challenge. JMG engaged its event management and publicity teams to produce every detail from the website, tickets and contestant introductions to the stage with lighting, sound effects and video layout.
The game show, produced on August 21, 2010, included nine graduated Greenville County Schools 5th graders, nine local celebrity contestants and a live audience of 1,200. The audience enjoyed the evening laughing through celebrity contestant's 5th grade photos, silly answers and video interludes.
Gordon Dill, news anchor from local WYFF and a game show contestant, called it "the best produced event" in which he has ever participated. As further proof of its enormous success, the event raised $175,000 for the Greenville County School District through ticket sales and corporate sponsors.
